Classification

Rules for Classification

General or Extended judgement

In the general category, only overall impression, painting & finish and building skill are taken into account in the judging criteria.

In the extended category, detail level and difficulty/complexity are also included in the judging criteria.

Therefore, in the general category, super-detailed and built-out-of-the-box models will be judged equally (i.e. the super detailed model will not gain any points for the extra detail, complexity etc). Subsequently, this means that an out-of-the-box model stands little chance against a well-detailed, complex model in the extended category.

Dioramas

Select simplified judging if you do not want the criteria idea taken into consideration. Otherwise, if you wish to be judged on idea as well, please select comprehensive judging.

Composition is judged in both classes, in addition to overall impressionpainting & finish and building skill.

Figures

Figures will be judged individually, except for FIG5 – Gaming figures – group, and  FIG6 “Figure in an environment” were one or a small number of figures get judged toghter with the base work.

Junior

This is the class for all competitors who have not yet reached 16 years of age. In this class, all types of objects compete against each other and there is no division into different scales. General and extended judging is not conducted in this class, since it has its own unique set of judging criteria.

Theme class

Every year at C4 Open we have a Theme Class. The judging of this class is based on how the modeler has interpreted the theme. Idea and creativity is important in this class. Two prizes are awarded in this class: Class winner, and honorary mention.

The theme is stated on the front page.

Scale

Classification is conducted according to physical size, i.e. 1/48 is larger than 1/72, not the other way around.
